Dan Towler ran for 153 yards, including a 45-yard run up the middle that gave the Rams a lead they would never lose, as they advanced to the championship game with a 19-14 win over Cleveland. Los Angeles built a 12-0 lead through 3 quarters by shutting down the Cleveland ground attack, but the Browns started moving the ball in the fourth quarter. Cleveland QB Otto Graham completed 5 of 7 on 2 late scoring drives in the fourth quarter, finishing with 221 passing yards. Marion Motley scored on a draw play from 30 yards out to cut the Los Angeles lead to 5 late in the fourth, but Norm Van Brocklin hit Tom Fear with a crucial third down pass to keep the Rams final drive alive, and Cleveland never got the ball back. Motley ran for 142 yards in a losing cause.
