1950 NFL Championship-New York Giants-13, Philadelphia Eagles-0

Pro Football at the Polo Grounds
December 31, 1950

Weather-36 degrees, 15 mph NNW

The New York Giants used a stifling defense to shutout the Philadelphia Eagles and win the first NFL Championship in franchise history, 13-0. The Giants were concerned with the Philadelphia running game prior to kickoff, but the Eagles were never able to get anything going, managing only 51 yards on their 30 carries. The Giants scored the only touchdown of the game on a wheel route from RB Joe Scott. Scott gathered in a Charlie Conerly pass and motored 77 yards for a 7-0 lead.

After the initial touchdown, both defenses settled in and forced many three and outs. Philadelphia had only 66 yards of offense in the second half, and the Eagles never crossed the 50-yard line after halftime.
