Weather-55 degrees, 12 mph S, rain
Cleveland's defense limited the Yankees to 108 yards of offense in winning their first NFL title, 14-0. The final score does not indicate how one-sided this game was. The game was played in a steady rain, and the Browns running game controlled the clock and generated a number of scoring opportunities. In the first 3 quarters, Cleveland K Lou Groza missed 4 field goals, and QB Otto Graham threw a red zone interception to end another drive.
The Browns were able to get on the board early in the fourth quarter on a corner route to Dante Lavelli, his 10th TD of the season. On Cleveland's next possession, Marion Motley swept the left end for a 55-yard TD and the competitive part of the game was over. Cleveland would finish with 377 yards, including 241 yards on the ground.
