Cliff Lewis returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown that gave the Browns a 14-7 lead that they would never lose on their way to a 24-7 victory. Cleveland took the opening kickoff and marched down the field to a 7-0 lead, with Mac Speedie scoring on a 31-yard pass from Otto Graham. The Dons quickly answered with a touchdown of their own to tie the game.
Once Lewis gave the Browns the lead, Cleveland's defense was able to enforce their will on the L.A. offense. The Dons would only manage 93 second half yards and wouldn't score again after John Kimbrough's first quarter TD. Cleveland will host the New York Yankees next Sunday for the NFL Championship.
