Mann, Olszewski, Matson, McHan-The Cardinals backfield |
Weather-35 degrees, 16 mph SW
The Cardinals broke open a 3-3 halftime deadlock in the third quarter, first with a TD strike from Lamar McHan to Gern Nagler, immediately followed by a safety on a sack from Pro Bowl LB Leo Sanford, then held on for a 12-6 victory. Chicago was outgained, but every time that the Redskins threatened to score, the Cardinal defense would find a third down stop and a way off the field.
The Cardinals will travel to Wrigley Field for a showdown with their crosstown rivals, the Bears. The winner will move on the NFL Championship Game.
