1949 NFL Semifinal-Los Angeles Rams-7, San Francisco 49ers-3

December 25, 1949

Weather-64 degrees, 3 mph ESE

San Francisco outgained Los Angeles 320-194 and had many opportunities to pull out a victory, but the Rams came up with the big plays needed for a 7-3 win. Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch scored the only TD of the game when he took a draw straight up the middle for a 39-yard score in the second quarter. San Francisco was able to move the ball all evening, but 49ers K Joe Vetrano missed 4 FG and San Francisco failed on three different fourth down conversion attempts in the fourth quarter, with two of those coming in the red zone.

The Rams will host the Cardinals next weekend for the NFL Championship.
