On the third play from scrimmage, Los Angeles QB Bob Waterfield hit Bob Shaw breaking down the sideline for an 86-yard bomb and a 7-0 lead. The Rams would never trail on their way to a 29-6 victory. Waterfield threw for 217 yards and kicked a pair of field goals. Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch ran for 34 yards, caught passes for 33 yards, and intercepted a pass. Tom Fears caught 7 passes, equaling Mac Speedie's NFL record for receptions in a season with 84. The Yankees struggled offensively all season long and the quarterfinal was no different. New York could manage only 2 field goals and 215 yards, including just 59 after halftime.

The Rams will host the 49ers at the Coliseum next weekend for a spot in the title game.
